Oasis Trails

Situated in the center of Villamayor de Monjardín, Oasis Trails operates out of a rustic, traditional Spanish house that overlooks the sweeping Navarre valley below. The property functions as an albergue for walkers on the Camino Francés, offering a quiet place to rest after the steep climb up to the village.

The project was established in 1997 by two Dutchmen who wanted to create a physical and spiritual oasis for travelers. The founding of the hostel traces back to one of the founders' own journeys along the famous overland "hippie trail" to India. During that trip, he experienced a deep spiritual awakening and embraced Christianity. This life-altering experience inspired the duo to set up a refuge on Spain's most popular pilgrimage route, hoping to serve others searching for meaning on their own journeys.

Today, the property is managed by a local foundation called Oasis Trails Spain. It maintains a strong ethos of traditional pilgrim hospitality and operates partially on a donation basis. Visitors will find a community-oriented environment that reflects its Christian roots, often fostering quiet reflection and conversation among international walkers. The property provides basic refuge services, but its standout feature is the architecture of the old house itself, paired with the expansive views of the surrounding countryside.

For those planning to stay, the most important logistical detail is the check-in policy. Reservations are strictly held only until 3:00 PM on the day of arrival. Walkers who find themselves delayed on the trail must call the hostel directly to let the staff know they are running late. Otherwise, reserved beds are released and given to other pilgrims arriving in the village. Once settled, guests highly recommend spending the late afternoon taking in the valley views from the property, which provide a spectacular vantage point over the route just walked.
