Stage 32 of 35

Baamonde → Sobrado

40 km | 10-14 hours | +909m / -802m

About This Stage

The distance is the primary challenge, with the terrain rolling but without extreme climbs. Services are limited through the middle section.

The route passes through deep rural Galicia, with long stretches of forest and scattered farming hamlets. The isolation can feel profound, with few signs of habitation for extended periods. The walking is not technically difficult but the distance is exhausting.

Sobrado dos Monxes is home to the magnificent Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria, one of the largest monastic complexes in Galicia. The monastery offers pilgrim accommodation and the church's three massive apses are architecturally impressive. Basic services are available in the village.

Terrain: Rolling Galician hills, forest trails, rural lanes, eucalyptus plantations
