About This Stage
A moderate stage through the green Cantabrian countryside to Comillas, a small town with an outsized architectural heritage. The terrain is gently rolling with pleasant rural walking and occasional coastal views.
The route passes through quiet farming villages and pastoral landscape typical of Cantabria, with dairy cattle, green meadows, and distant mountain views. The walking is relatively easy after the demanding stages before.
Comillas is an architectural gem, home to Gaudi's El Capricho (one of only three Gaudi buildings outside Catalonia), the Pontifical University on the hilltop, and the Sobrellano Palace. The town's beach and its cluster of significant buildings make it one of the most rewarding small stops on the Norte.
Terrain: Rural roads, gentle coastal hills, village streets, some forest paths

Things Along the Way
Often called the 'prettiest village in Spain', a remarkably preserved medieval town with cobblestoned streets, noble mansions, and the UNESCO-listed Romanesque Collegiate Church. Near the Altamira cave paintings.
An aristocratic Cantabrian seaside town with Gaudi's El Capricho palace, a Pontifical University, and fine beaches. A charming mix of modernist architecture and traditional fishing village character.
