San Vicente de la Barquera is one of the most photogenic towns on the Norte, especially when the snow-capped Picos de Europa are visible behind the harbour. The route continues through increasingly rural terrain as you approach the Asturian border.
Colombres is a small village marking the transition into Asturias, with a few accommodation options and basic services. The Archivo de Indianos (Museum of Returning Emigrants) documents the stories of Asturians who emigrated to the Americas.
