About Terradillos de los Templarios
Terradillos de los Templarios is a small farming village in the province of Palencia, on the Tierra de Campos plateau. The Camino passes through the village. Its claim to fame is in the name: this was once a Knights Templar commandery, and the village marks the approximate halfway point between Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Santiago de Compostela.
The village was a Templar property from the 12th century until the suppression of the order in the early 14th century. Nothing of the Templar buildings survives. The current parish church of San Pedro dates from after the Templar period. The Templar association is now a name, a statue at the entrance to the village, and the branding of the main albergue.
Services are limited. The Albergue Jacques de Molay and the Albergue Los Templarios offer dormitory beds and have attached restaurants serving pilgrim menus. There is no shop, no pharmacy, no ATM, and no medical service. The village has no other businesses beyond the albergues.
