Carrión de los Condes → Terradillos de los Templarios

This stage contains the longest stretch without services on the Frances: 17 kilometres from Carrion de los Condes to Calzadilla de la Cueza with nothing in between. The walking crosses the most austere section of the Meseta, flat and featureless in every direction.

The route follows a Roman road alignment across the plateau, dead straight for kilometres at a stretch. The isolation and emptiness can be either deeply meditative or profoundly challenging depending on your mindset. After Calzadilla, a few more small villages appear before Terradillos.

Terradillos de los Templarios is a tiny hamlet named for its historical Templar connection. A couple of albergues and a bar provide basic services. The village sits in the middle of the Meseta with nothing but wheat fields in every direction.
