About This Stage
The shortest stage on the Frances, this easy half-day covers the final stretch of the deepest Meseta before reaching Sahagun. The walking is flat and straightforward through small villages and agricultural terrain.
Sahagun marks the approximate halfway point of the Camino Frances from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. The town has a rich Mudejar architectural heritage, with brick churches in the distinctive Islamic-influenced style of medieval Castile. The ruined monastery of San Benito and the churches of San Tirso and San Lorenzo are notable.
The town has good services including accommodation, restaurants, and shops. Many pilgrims use this short day to rest, do laundry, and explore Sahagun's unique architecture.
Terrain: Flat Meseta paths, village streets, gentle descent into Sahagun
