About Nájera
Najera is a beautiful town on the banks of the Rio Najerilla, set against a dramatic backdrop of red sandstone cliffs. The town was once the capital of the medieval Kingdom of Najera-Pamplona, and its royal heritage is reflected in the Monastery of Santa Maria la Real, which contains the royal pantheon of Navarra.
Pilgrims will find albergues, hotels, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, ATMs, and a pharmacy. The old town with its cobblestoned streets and medieval bridge is pleasant to explore.
The monastery cloister, with its ornate late-Gothic tracery known as the Claustro de los Caballeros, is one of the finest on the Camino. The surrounding cliffs add a dramatic natural setting.
