Ferreiros

Ferreiros sits in the province of Lugo, in Galicia, on the Camino between Morgade and Mercadoiro. The Camino runs through the small hamlet.

The hamlet name comes from the Galician word for blacksmiths or ironworkers, and Ferreiros was historically a settlement of metalworkers serving the surrounding Galician countryside. The parish church and a small cluster of stone houses make up the historic core. The hamlet is most famous now for sitting near the 100km marker stone, where modern pilgrims who began their walks at Sarria can confirm they have crossed the official minimum distance for the Compostela certificate.

Services in Ferreiros are limited. There are albergues including the municipal albergue and a bar-restaurant. There is no shop, no pharmacy, and no ATM.
