About Zuriain

Zuriain is a small village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Akerreta and Irotz.

The village sits on the right bank of the Arga River, below Mount Berrondo. It has a long history and appears in records as early as 1090. In the Middle Ages, it was connected to both the Crown of Navarra and the religious community of Santa María de Roncesvalles.

For pilgrims today, Zuriain is a useful stop on the walk from Zubiri to Pamplona. The route follows the Arga Valley through this section, with gentler walking than the previous Pyrenean stages and a mix of riverside paths, minor roads, small villages, and countryside.

Zuriain has pilgrim accommodation and food available at La Parada de Zuriain, which is known as a practical place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or an overnight stop. Services are still limited, so it is worth checking opening times before relying on it.

The village itself is quiet and simple, with stone houses, river views, and a rural Camino atmosphere. It is not a major sightseeing stop, but it gives pilgrims a useful place to rest before continuing toward Irotz, Trinidad de Arre, and Pamplona.
