Irotz

Irotz is a small village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Zuriain and Zabaldika, as the route follows the Arga River toward Pamplona.

For pilgrims, Irotz is mostly a quiet passing point rather than a full overnight stop. The village has a peaceful rural feel, with stone houses, river scenery, and a medieval bridge over the Arga. Wise Pilgrim notes that there are no services in Irotz, so it is better to plan food, water, and breaks around nearby villages or Pamplona.

The area has been part of the historic Camino route for centuries, with the river crossings of the Arga Valley shaping how pilgrims moved toward Pamplona. After Irotz, the Camino offers route choices: pilgrims can continue toward Trinidad de Arre, or take the flatter riverside option toward Huarte before entering Pamplona.

Irotz is not a major sightseeing stop, but it is a pleasant place to pause briefly, enjoy the river setting, and continue along one of the gentler sections before the approach into Pamplona.
