The path crosses the remote Galician highlands, with the route following mountain ridges and dropping into deep valleys through dense forest and exposed upland sections. The isolation can be profound, with few settlements and no services between the two towns.
The landscape is green, damp, and often shrouded in mist. Watch for the small granite cruceiros that mark crossroads, and the occasional abandoned hamlet slowly being reclaimed by the forest.
