About This Stage
The route descends from the Galician highlands to Lugo, with the terrain easing significantly compared to the mountain stages. The path passes through rolling countryside of eucalyptus forest and farmland.
Lugo is encircled by the best-preserved Roman walls in the world, a complete circuit of over two kilometres that you can walk entirely on top. The walls, built in the 3rd century AD, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral of Santa Maria has a Romanesque origin and a remarkable north portal.
Walk the walls at sunset for panoramic views over the old town and surrounding countryside. The tapas bars in the Praza do Campo serve excellent Galician cuisine.
Terrain: Descending highland paths, rolling countryside, eucalyptus forest, suburban approach, city walls
