Stage 3 of 3

Olveiroa → Fisterra

31.5 km | 9-12 hours | +1230m / -1475m

About This Stage

The route heads west towards the Atlantic, following the Rio Xallas valley through Hospital before reaching the coast at Cee. The Santuario de Nosa Senora das Neves in Dumbria and its 'fuente santa' (holy fountain) attract visitors year-round.

Cee and neighbouring Corcubion mark the first sight of the ocean. Corcubion has the Iglesia de San Marcos, a distinctive Gothic-maritime style church. The Ermita de San Pedro Martir sits along the coastal path.

Fisterra (literally 'end of the earth') has been a place of pilgrimage since pre-Christian times, when Celtic priests worshipped the sunset from this westernmost point. The Castelo de San Carlos (18th century) houses the Museo del Mar. The lighthouse at Cabo Fisterra and the ancient tradition of burning pilgrim clothes at sunset make this one of the Camino's most powerful final destinations.

Terrain: River valley paths, rural lanes, coastal approach, town cobblestones, lighthouse road
