Agés

Agés is a small village in Burgos province on the Camino Francés, between San Juan de Ortega and Atapuerca. For pilgrims, it is a practical and peaceful stop after the forested Montes de Oca section and before the route begins moving toward the wider Burgos area.

The village has been part of the Camino route for centuries, serving pilgrims travelling between San Juan de Ortega, Atapuerca, and Burgos. Its history is tied to the old road, local farming, and the rural communities that supported travellers crossing this part of Castile. The village itself is simple and traditional, with stone houses, quiet lanes, and open countryside around it.

Agés has useful pilgrim services for its size, including albergues, places to eat and drink, and basic facilities. It is not a large town, but it is one of the more comfortable small stops between Villafranca Montes de Oca and Burgos.

There is no major must-see monument in Agés, but it is a good place to slow down. Many pilgrims enjoy it because it still feels rural and calm before the route gets closer to Burgos and its suburbs.
