A Ver-o-Mar is a beachside parish in the municipality of Povoa de Varzim, marking the point where the Camino Coastal route transitions from the more urban coastline around Povoa into the wilder, dune-backed shores heading north towards Apulia and Esposende.
The route follows boardwalks and beach paths through the parish, with views of some of the most scenic stretches of the northern Portuguese coast. The parish has a few cafes and small shops along the main road, though most pilgrims pass through without stopping as Povoa de Varzim is close behind and Apulia lies ahead.
The name translates roughly as 'looking at the sea', and the parish lives up to it with wide sandy beaches and Atlantic panoramas.
