Things to do in Ferreira

4 things
Camino MomentYour Last Night on the PrimitivoTomorrow you walk to Melide, where the Camino Primitivo merges with the Camino Frances. The trail becomes dramatically busier. The quiet camaraderie of the Primitivo, where you have walked with the same small group for days, gives way to a flood of new faces. Some Primitivo pilgrims find this transition exhilarating. Others find it overwhelming. Either way, tonight is your last night of solitude. Savour it.
FoodEat at the Village RestaurantFerreira has a bar-restaurant that serves pilgrim meals. The food is simple Galician fare: broth, meat or fish, bread, and wine. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is communal. Talk to the other Primitivo pilgrims at the table. You have shared the same mountains, the same rain, the same climbs. These are the people who understand what you have walked through.
RelaxationWalk the Country LanesThe countryside around Ferreira is gentle and green. Oak woodlands, stone walls, small fields, and ancient paths connect the scattered farms and hamlets. After dinner, a short walk along the lanes with no pack on your back is a pleasant way to stretch your legs. The evening light in Galicia is soft and golden, and the birdsong in the oak trees is constant.
Camino MomentReflect on the Journey So FarYou have walked over 230 km on the Camino Primitivo, the oldest Camino route. You have crossed the Asturian mountains, climbed to over 1,100 metres, descended to reservoirs and river valleys, walked through ancient forests, and slept in villages with fewer than 50 inhabitants. Santiago is now about 80 km away. The end is approaching. Think about where you started and how far you have come, not just in distance but in everything else.
