About Población de Campos

Población de Campos is a small village in Palencia province on the Camino Francés, between Frómista and Revenga de Campos or Villovieco, depending on the route chosen. For pilgrims, it is the first village after Frómista and a useful place to pause before the route spreads into different options.

The village has a long Camino history and once had several pilgrim institutions connected to the route. It also has historic churches and hermitages, including the Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Socorro and the parish church of Santa María Magdalena.

Población de Campos has useful but limited pilgrim services, including accommodation and food options. It is not as fully serviced as Frómista or Carrión de los Condes, so pilgrims should use it as a smaller village stop rather than a major resupply point.

The main practical point is route choice. After Población de Campos, the Camino can continue through the traditional route via Revenga de Campos and Villarmentero de Campos, or through quieter alternatives that include Villovieco before joining back toward Villalcázar de Sirga and Carrión.
