About Sansol

Sansol is a small village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Los Arcos and Torres del Río. It sits on a rise above the Linares River, making it a useful pause before the short descent into Torres del Río. The village name is linked to San Zoilo, the patron saint of the parish church.

Sansol has been part of the Camino landscape for centuries, with its history tied to farming, local parish life, and the pilgrim route between Los Arcos and Viana. The main sight in the village is the Church of San Zoilo, which stands prominently above the surrounding countryside.

For pilgrims, Sansol is a quiet but useful stop. It has accommodation and food options, though services are more limited than in Los Arcos or Viana. Many pilgrims stop here for a drink, a meal, or a short rest before continuing down to Torres del Río.

The best thing to do in Sansol is take in the view toward Torres del Río before descending. The next village is close, but the drop is steeper than it first looks, so it is worth taking your time on tired legs.
