About Viana
Viana is a historic walled town perched on a ridge near the border of Navarra and La Rioja. The town has a grand Gothic church (Santa Maria) which contains the tomb of Cesare Borgia, the Renaissance-era political figure.
The town has cafes, restaurants, a supermarket, and basic services. The Plaza de los Fueros and the panoramic views from the town walls are worth a stop. Viana has a proud history as the seat of the Prince of Viana, heir to the Navarrese throne.
Viana is a popular lunch stop for pilgrims walking from Los Arcos to Logrono, roughly halfway through the stage.
