Albergue de Peregrinos Municipal de Logroño

The municipal pilgrim hostel on Calle Ruavieja sits at a natural entry point into Logroño's old town, making it one of the first stops pilgrims reach after crossing the stone bridge over the River Ebro. Its position at the foot of the route into the city centre means many walkers arrive here still shaking off the dust from the vineyards and open terrain of the Rioja countryside.

The hostel is run by volunteer hospitaleros through HOSVOL, the Hospitaleros Voluntarios network, under the management of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago. It is municipally owned, which keeps it grounded in the public service tradition of pilgrim hospitality rather than commercial accommodation. Stays are by donation, and the hostel does not accept reservations, so places go to whoever arrives first. The 2026 refurbishment brought the facilities up to date, and a change in management is due that same year.

The building holds 56 beds across three dormitories, two with 20 beds and one with 16, all on bunk beds. Pilgrims need to bring or have access to a sleeping bag, as disposable sheets are available at extra cost. The hostel credentials pilgrims with a stamp, has a free kitchen with microwave and fridge, laundry facilities, and covered bicycle storage. Check-in opens at 1pm and the hostel closes at 10pm.

Logroño itself is worth a proper look. The capital of La Rioja, it is known for its wine culture, its old quarter, and Calle del Laurel, a street packed with pintxos bars that draws pilgrims and locals alike in the evening hours.
