Albergue Espacio Interior

Espacio Interior Camino is a small, intentionally contemplative hostel that opened in 2023 on Castrojeriz's main historic street. With just seven beds in a single shared dormitory, it operates on a more intimate scale than most pilgrim accommodation, and that size is part of the point.

The hostel is run by Nía Peiró and is oriented toward pilgrims looking for something beyond a place to sleep. Meditation sessions and spiritual guidance are offered, and the communal dinner is vegetarian or vegan, reflecting a broader philosophy around the stay. The dinner, available for 13 euros, functions as a shared experience rather than just a meal service.

Castrojeriz itself sits at a natural pause point on the Camino Francés, stretched along a single road beneath a ruined hilltop castle, and pilgrims often arrive here after the long approach across the Meseta. The town has a contemplative character that suits what this hostel is trying to offer. For walkers who find the pilgrimage meaningful on a personal or spiritual level, rather than purely as a physical challenge, Espacio Interior provides a deliberately different kind of stop. It is open from mid-April through the end of October, accepts reservations, and also has camping available for those who prefer to sleep outside.
