Albergue Municipal de Población de Campos

Población de Campos is a small village on the Camino Francés in the province of Palencia, sitting in the open grain-growing plains of Castile and León. The municipal albergue here is one of the simpler, no-frills stops on this stretch of the route, but it serves its purpose well for pilgrims looking for an affordable night before continuing toward Carrión de los Condes.

The hostel is located near the village cemetery at the entrance to town, making it easy to spot on the way in. It offers a single dormitory with 18 bunk beds at 15 euros per night, along with a shared kitchen equipped with a microwave and refrigerator, a garden, and secure bicycle storage. It is exclusively for pilgrims, and reservations are recommended outside of peak season. The hostel operates from mid-March through the end of December, with check-in from 2 pm and doors closing at 10 pm.

Management of the hostel is set to change in 2026, so conditions and contact details may shift. As of now, the operation is privately managed under municipal ownership, with Manuele listed as the person in charge. For a village this size, having a functioning pilgrim hostel at all is a genuine convenience, and the kitchen access in particular makes it a practical stop for those carrying food or looking to save on meals in an area where services are sparse.
