Parque de Campismo de Vila Chã

Parque de Campismo de Vila Chã sits in the coastal parish of Vila Chã, within the municipality of Vila do Conde, and has been welcoming campers since it opened in April 1990. The site grew out of a personal project by a camping-enthusiast couple whose proposal was recognised by Portugal's General Directorate of Tourism in 1988 as an activity of national tourism interest, giving the park a formal stamp of significance before it even opened its gates.

Over the decades, the park has expanded steadily through successive rounds of improvements: new reception buildings, a second sanitary block, enlarged bungalows, a supermarket, and a commitment to solar-powered hot water systems. It now covers around 30,000 square metres and holds a three-star classification, with capacity for up to 480 users. The facilities include sports fields for football and tennis, a pub, a grill area, a games room, laundry machines, and power hookups for caravans and tents. The site operates with 24-hour security every day of the year.

For pilgrims and long-distance walkers passing through, the park represents a practical and well-equipped rest point in a stretch of coastline that sees steady foot traffic along the Portuguese Coastal Way. Vila Chã itself is a quiet fishing and agricultural parish, and the campsite has played a meaningful role in supporting local economic activity since its founding, drawing visitors who spend time and money in the surrounding community.
