The walking passes through typical Galician rural landscape with small farms, granite villages, and eucalyptus woodland. The terrain is unremarkable but pleasant, allowing tired legs to recover.
Vilalba is a market town known throughout Galicia for its capons (capon de Vilalba), fattened roosters that are a prized local delicacy, especially at Christmas. The town has good services including accommodation, restaurants, and shops. The octagonal tower of the Andrade family castle is the main landmark.
