About This Stage
A shorter, easier stage through the heart of Asturian cider country. The route passes through a landscape dominated by apple orchards, dairy farms, and small villages, with the gentle terrain providing welcome relief.
The walking is pleasant and undemanding through what is often called the 'cider valley' of Asturias. Apple orchards line the path, and during autumn the harvest season gives the landscape a golden character.
Villaviciosa is the self-proclaimed 'cider capital of Asturias,' with numerous llagares (cider houses) offering tastings and tours. The town has a charming centre with Romanesque churches and a lively atmosphere. Good services and accommodation available.
Terrain: Gentle Asturian countryside, apple orchards, rural lanes, some forest paths
