About This Stage
The route crosses into Galicia, entering Spain's greenest and most Celtic-influenced region. The walking is gentle with minimal climbing, following the Eo River estuary to the border town of Ribadeo.
The transition into Galicia is marked by changes in architecture (granite replaces limestone), language (Galician appears alongside Spanish), and landscape character. The estuary crossing is peaceful, with views across the water to both shores.
Ribadeo is a pleasant Galician town on the Eo estuary, famous for the spectacular Praia das Catedrais (Beach of the Cathedrals), where erosion has carved cathedral-like arches and buttresses from the cliffs. The beach is accessible at low tide and requires advance booking in summer. Good services available.
Terrain: Gentle rural roads, river estuary approach, town streets
